Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the Inhibiting Factors of Beginning Reading Skills in Grade I Students at Elementary School 060938 Kec. Medan Johor Academic Year 2021/2022 to find out how to describe in more detail a problem or in other words the actual situation in the field. The form of this research is a form of qualitative research. The population of this study were all first grade students  at Elementary School 060938 Kec. Medan Johor with a total of 25 students. The research sample was 25 students. Data collection techniques used are observation, test, and interview. The results of the research that have been described are preliminary reading skills in elementary school students who lack interest in learning to read and lack of guidance, difficulty in reading early in elementary school students, namely not being able to recognize letters, not being able to read syllables, not being able to read words, and not being able to assemble compositions. letters in spelling words.
