This research is a class action study that aims to improve the ability of students class V to understand the discourse of non-fiction of Elementary School Percontohan Pematang Siantar. The type of research is classroom action research using a cycle of planning, application and observation,, evaluation and reflection. While the teaching material is delivered by the jigsaw method. The subject of the study was a student of class V of Elementary School Percontohan Pematang Siantar. The results showed that in the first cycle, the ability of students to understand non-fiction discourse texts with the jigsaw method had already increased by an average score of 66,25. After application in the second cycle is held again postes. The results of the second postes show that the average student's grades have increased, which is 80. The results illustrate that jigsaw methods can improve students' ability to understand non-fiction discourse texts.
