Abstrak

ABSTRACT. Red spinach seeds that have passed the germination test period using
compost seedling media and black soil media. This study aims to determine the
germination test of red spinach (Amarantus tricolor L.) using compost and black soil
media. In accordance with the design of this study using compost and black soil as red
spinach germination media, and comparing the differences in germination ofred
spinach plants that were sampled, the percentage (%) of seeds that germinated
normally, abnormal germination, dead seeds, fresh seeds did not grow. This research
was conducted on Jln. Ringrood-Ngumban Surbakti No. 18 Quality- Medan
Intersection, Medan Selayang Subdistrict, Medan City, North Sumatra Province, for
a period of ±1 month starting on 15 May 2022 - 15 June 2022. The results of the
analysis used a hypothesis t test by looking at the t test of the normalsprouts
hypothesis, significant level 5% = 0.05, accepted Ho if p-value > significant,
rejected Ho if P-value significant. If the test results are significant for compost Pvalue 0.033 then 0.033 <0.05, and black soil P-value 0.001 Then 0.001
<0.05, reject Ho, accept H1. Where Ho, M1 = M2 i.e. % normal sprouts from
compost media and from % normal sprouts on black soil media and H1, M1 M2 ie
% normal sprouts from compost media were not the same as black soil media. Then
the treatment with the t test% normal germination on compost media was not the
same (≠) with germination on black soil media because compost contains a lot of
macro nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, magnesium and other important elements.
