Abstrak

This study seeks to assess the impact of the discovery learning model on student learning outcomes in a science curriculum focused on plant parts for the fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 040552 Samperaya during the 2024/2025 academic year. Specifically, it aims to compare learning outcomes experienced by students who were taught through traditional methods against those who benefited from the discovery learning model. To achieve this, a quantitative research methodology was employed using a quasi-experimental design, specifically a control group pretest-posttest framework. The total population for this study consisted of 51 fourth-grade students, divided into two classes: the experimental group (class IVA) with 25 students and the control group (class IVB) with 26 students. Data collection was conducted through a written essay test featuring five questions related to plant parts. The pre-test results revealed an average score of 49. 20 for class IVA and 49. 23 for class IVB. After implementing different teaching approaches, the average post-test score for class IVA was significantly higher at 90. 00, compared to 71. 92 for class IVB. Subsequent data analysis, which included normality and homogeneity tests, allowed for hypothesis testing via the t-test formula. The results indicated that the t-value obtained (6. 03) surpassed the threshold t-table value (2. 01). This significant finding leads to the conclusion that employing the discovery learning model has a positive impact on enhancing student learning outcomes in the subject of science focused on plant parts for the fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 040552 Samperaya.
