This study investigates the impact of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on the sentence pattern writing skills of second-grade students at SDN 101849 Suka Makmur. Specifically, it aims to evaluate the students’ learning outcomes both before and after implementing the CTL model, with the objective of determining whether this teaching approach significantly enhances their writing abilities.Utilizing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest framework, the research involved 57 students who were divided into experimental and control groups. Conducted during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year at SDN 101849 Suka Makmur, situated in the Kutalimbaru District of Deli Serdang Regency, the study found noteworthy results. Initially, the average pretest score for the experimental group was 37. 6, while the control group scored slightly higher at 38. 7. Following the implementation of the CTL model, the posttest scores revealed a substantial improvement, with the experimental class achieving an average of 95. 2 compared to 92. 7 in the control class. The t-test analysis indicated a t-value of 15. 576, surpassing the critical t-table value at a significance level of 0. 05. This finding corroborates the conclusion that the CTL model has a significant positive effect on students' writing skills. Ultimately, the study demonstrates that the CTL model effectively improves students’ sentence pattern writing skills by fostering meaningful learning experiences, promoting active participation, and enhancing their understanding of sentence structures.
