This study aims to determine the effect of pop up book media on the short story writing skills of fourth grade students at SD Johor Medan in the 2022/2023 academic year. The type of research that will be carried out in this study is a quasi-experimental research with a control group pretest-posttest design. This study took a sample of 50 students. The research instrument was a reading test. Data analysis techniques using the SPSS 22 program. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that pop up book media has a significant influence on the short story reading skills of class VA students at SDN 060930 Johor Medan. This is based on the data obtained after the research was carried out, the results of data analysis showed that the experimental class pre-test results obtained an average value of 31.04 and the control pre-test obtained an average value of 30.12 which is classified as still low. While the average value of the experimental class post-test results was 86.19 and the control post-test was 79.13 which indicated that the results after being given treatment had increased.
