Abstrak

This type of research is a quasi-experimental. The sample used was 48 students, divided into two classes, namely Class V-A with 24 students and Class V-B with 24 students. the results of students' speaking skills without using the debate method in Indonesian subjects obtained an average score of 68  less criteria, the results of students' speaking skills using the debate method in Indonesian subjects obtained an average score of 83 good criteria, there was a significant effect using the debate method on the speaking skills of class V UPT SDN 060903 Medan Helvetia students. The results of testing the data hypothesis concluded that there was a significant effect of using the debate method on students' speaking skills.
