Abstract
This research is an analysis of the Gatot Subroto Medan signalized intersection, using
quantitative methods, the purpose of this study is to find out the problems at the
intersection, both problems that are happening now and problems that will occur in the
next few years, based on this in accordance with the results of traffic analysis average daily traffic (LHR) which has been carried out for three days at the Gatot Subroto Medan
Majestic intersection, the conclusion is that this year each intersection leg is still able to
accommodate the flow of passing traffic, but based on the results of the average daily
traffic conversion analysis ( LHR) the traffic flow capacity at the foot of intersection A
can still accommodate every passing vehicle where the saturation flow capacity is still
around 31.25% for the next 15 years, but the traffic flow capacity at the legs of
intersection B and C with an increase in the motorized vehicle population is around 8%
every year the foot of the intersection is saturated for about 10 years in the future. To
deal with the significantly increasing vehicle population in 2037 the authors suggest
increasing the approach width (W) at each intersection leg. Make a road shoulder that
meets the requirements so that vehicles that are in an emergency can stop without
disrupting the capacity of the traffic flow. Increase the provision of city buses that are
comfortable and disciplined with road signs, to reduce the population of private vehicles
in the Medan city area.
