This research aims to determine the significant influence of the Mind Mapping Method on Improving Speaking Skills in Indonesian Language Subject Poetry Material for Class IV Students at State Elementary School 060922 Medan before and after the Mind Mapping Method is applied. This type of research is Quasi Experimental research. The instrument used in this research was the Student Speaking Skills Assessment Rubric. The subjects in this research were 20 class IV students at SD Negeri 060922 Medan. Based on the results of the Assessment Rubric before being given treatment, the average grade IV score was 49.5, so it can be concluded that students' speaking skills are still low. Next, learning was carried out using the Mind Mapping Method in class IV. For the results of the Assessment Rubric after being treated using the Mind Mapping Method, an average of 81 was obtained, indicated by the students being less active during the learning process, students not being able to speak fluently according to the theme from the beginning to the end of the presentation, still being shy and not daring to speak in front of their friends. , then it can be concluded that speaking skills are high and there is improvement. The conclusion of this research is that the Mind Mapping Method has a significant influence on improving speaking skills in poetry material for Indonesian language subjects for fourth grade elementary school students.
