Abstrak

This study aims to explore three main objectives: 1) to assess the outcomes of social studies learning among students using conventional teaching methods; 2) to evaluate the results of social studies learning among students employing the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) cooperative learning model; and 3) to investigate the significant impact of the STAD cooperative learning model on student learning outcomes. The research design is quasi-experimental and was carried out at SD Negeri 060866 Medan, focusing on a population of fourth-grade students across two classes. The experimental group consisted of 24 students, while the control group included 22 students. Data were collected through essay tests, and the analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The key findings of the study are as follows: (1). For the fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 060866 Medan during the 2024/2025 academic year, social studies learning outcomes on the topic of "society in my area," using the STAD cooperative learning model, indicated an average pre-test score of 44. 09 and a post-test score of 77. 5.(2). In contrast, the results for the same group without employing the STAD model showed an average pre-test score of 36. 16 and a post-test score of 77. 08.(3). Finally, the analysis revealed no significant influence of the STAD cooperative learning model on the social studies outcomes of the fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 060866 Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year. Statistical calculations yielded a t-value of 0. 4376, matching the critical t-value, leading to the acceptance of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the rejection of the alternative hypothesis (H1). In summary, while the STAD model demonstrated potential for improving learning outcomes, the data analysis indicated no statistically significant difference in effectiveness compared to traditional methods in this context
