Abstrak

The objectives of this study are: (1) To determine the reading skills of students without using the SQ3R method based on picture story media in the fourth grade of SDN 105268 Telaga Sari Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year; (2) To determine the reading skills of students using the SQ3R method based on picture story media in the fourth grade of SDN 105268 Telaga Sari Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year; (3) To determine the significant effect of using the SQ3R method based on picture story media in the fourth grade of SDN 105268 Telaga Sari Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research method used is quasi-experimental with a two-group pretest and posttest design. The research instruments used reading skills assessment rubric. The population of this study consists of all fourth-grade students of SDN 105268 Telaga Sari Medan, totaling 26 students. The sample includes Class IV-A (experimental) with 26 students and Class IV-B (control) with 26 students. Based on the research results, the average posttest score of students was 83.77 in the experimental class and 74.46 in the control class. Hypothesis testing using the t-test at a significance level revealed that the experimental and control class data  = 3.22 > = 2.01. It can be concluded that is rejected and is accepted, indicating a significant effect of using the SQ3R method based on picture story media on the reading skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 105268 Telaga Sari Medan in the 2024/2025 academic year.
