Abstrak

This research aims to evaluate student learning outcomes by comparing the effectiveness of the Word Square Model, supported by PowerPoint media, against traditional methods without the Word Square Model. Specifically, it investigates the impact of the Word Square Learning Model, assisted by PowerPoint, on the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 064025 Medan. To carry out this study, a Quasi-Experimental design was employed, utilizing both pre-test and post-test measures. The research was conducted from November 23 to 28, 2024, involving a total population of 50 students from grades IV-A and IV-B, all of whom participated in the study. Data were collected through an essay test comprising five questions. The results from the pre-test indicated that the average scores were 40 for grade IV-A and 43 for grade IV-B. Following the implementation of the Word Square Model, the post-test scores revealed a significant improvement, with grade IV-A achieving an average of 90 and grade IV-B reaching 60. Hypothesis testing yielded a t_count of 8. 7956, which exceeds the t_table value of 2. 0106, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H_0) and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H_1). These results indicate a significant positive impact of the Word Square Learning Model, supported by PowerPoint media, on the science learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SDN 064025 Medan Tuntungan during the academic year 2024/2025
